Tohoku
The End of the Road
Tohoku is the next region we'll visit in Japan. Tohoku means "North East Region" (of Honshu Island) but was historically known as Michinoku - "The End of the Road". It has fought for and retained some autonomy from Kyoto at various points over its history. Now it's known mostly for its tourism. And horrible tsunamis.
