The Speares

Living the life in Gravenhurst

Tohoku

Sendai

Today we leave Aomori on the north coast of Honshu and head to Sendai, closer to Tokyo. Sendai was the home of Date Masamune, a samurai lord, and his castle is mostly still there.

A little misty today.

You can cycle all around Lake Ogawara.

Hachinohe. A lot of cities in Japan have cute mascots for some reason. Also for some reason, the mascots of Hachinohe are seagulls with squids for heads.

Time to head over the mountains.

A thing I'm learning about Honshu is that every square reasonably level inch of the place is built up.

Might be a little snowy up ahead.

We can fix that.

Kogota. We're getting close to Sendai.

Sendai. Known for its beef tongue. Also founded by Date Masamune, a famous samurai warlord who led his first campaign at age 14 and was in the Battle of Sekigahara from James Clavell's Shogun. He lives on today in Battle Cat form. He can evolve into Immortal Masamune at level 30 if you give him Catfruit.

Welcome to Sendai!
