Shikoku
Four Countries
Welcome to Shikoku, Japan's fourth largest island. That really means it's the smallest of the major islands. The big thing about Shikoku is that it is encircled by 1,200 km of Henro, a Buddhist pilgrimage route. The faithful can walk the route and enjoy the 88 temples to be found on it. Of course, most people take the bus. It's twelve hundred kilometers for heaven's sake. While you're there make sure you get a souvenir puppy.
