The Speares

Living the life in Gravenhurst

Kamchatka Krai

Ust-Pakhachi

Today we're going to finally start south down the Kamchatka Peninsula. We'll be getting somewhat near the town of Tilichiki, mostly wiped out in an earthquake in 2006 and then rebuilt. But the airport is way better at the town of beats-me-its-in-cyrillic. So off we go then.

There's desolate. And then there's Siberia.

I think that's a river.

My goodness that looks nasty. Okay, enough about how cold and desolate this place is.

On the coast, at the town of Pahachi Village. I found a cyrillic translator! Strange that the airport is Ust-Pakhachi with a K and the town is Pahachi. Some cyrillic thing I expect. Ust just means mouth, so presumably "mouth of the Pakhachi (river)".

Bit of a fog bank out on the Olyutorskiy Zaliv so we'll head back beregovoy.

And there's a better shot of Pahachi.

Anyhow, that's it for today. Tomorrow we'll continue our southerly direction and see how far we get. Do svidaniya.
