Kamchatka Krai
Uka
This morning we're heading to Uka Airport. It was part of the Lend-Lease program of the States back in the second world war, whereby they sent a lot of war stuff to a lot of strange places. A little more recently it was the site of a huge antenna that had something to do with Yuri Gagarin. Nowadays people don't tend to go there much, and Google Earth reports that the runway shows "substantial vegetation overgrowth". I hope they have valet parking.
Ruh roh. Better climb up a bit. |
Or maybe down. This is some island. We're massively off course.
Ruh roh indeed.
Hot dawg. There's Uka. |
This looks like as far as we're going today. Tomorrow it's volcanoes! |
