Kamchatka Krai
Milkovo
Today we're continuing our journey southwards. I must say Uka was a little rustic. Now we're off to a bonafide Selo, or village. Enroute we'll see some snow and some clouds. The tires have been kicked, and the fires have been lit.
These little places have the most amazing airports. |
Bleak.
And up ahead, volcanoes. That one is Shiveluch, the northernmost active volcano in Kamchatka Krai. It's been erupting on and off for 70,000 years. The most recent eruption started in 1999 and is ongoing. |
And over there we have Klyuchevskaya Sopka, a strato volcano and the highest active volcano in Eurasia. Clustered in with it are Gora Oval'naya Zimina, Mount Ostry Tolbachik, Vulkan Tolbachiskiy, Gora Bolshaya Udina and Vulkan Malaya Udina, all of which may be considered part of the same volcano complex. |
But I see it's time to pay attention to the road.
A river. They always go somewhere. |
There we go. Milkovo airport. There's a village here, trust me. But I found the airport first so we're landing. See ya! |
