One of the nicer things about being retired is you have almost unlimited time to pursue your interests. My interests include photography, and here are some pictures that strike me as interesting in some way. Hope you enjoy. A Very Determined Tree
This is on the Hardy Lake trail, our favourite trail close to home. I was impressed with this little guy clinging to life against impossible odds
Royal Tyrell Museum
If you're ever in Drumheller, you must see the museum. It's first rate and there's a very long trail there. you can actually walk back to town.
The La Cloche Silhouette Trail
This trail is interesting: it has you climb up a fairly vertical chimney or fissure between two enormous slabs of rock. It's one of the few trails I've been on that is entirely unsuitable for a dog, although there is no warning to that effect at the trailhead. I decided to render this one in shades of grey in keeping with the "silhouette" theme.
Breakfast at the PostHuys
This is a little restaurant pretty much at the end of the bike trail on one of Holland's northern barrier islands. I thought the charcoal effect gave the shot more of a European feel.
Jellyfish at the Napoli Aquarium
It's too bad this is a low def shot. These little guys are very photogenic. I didn't retouch this shot at all.
Venus Fly Traps at the Botaniska Trädgården
Some of these traps were past their best-before so I colour reduced the shot to 1 shade of green and red with white and grey for contrast. Makes it look rather Christmassy I think.
Riu Palace in Aruba
Sometimes when you're on vacation it's good to stay in your room and just enjoy nature from the balcony.
Flying Boat in Arena Gorda
I kid you not. Some guy made a flying zodiac. I don't know if he was charging for rides or who would take him up on that.
