Chugoku
Middle Country
Today it's off to Chugoku Region, the Yin and Yang of the mountains. Apart from the obvious thing the region is known for, Hiroshima, it is also known for Okunoshima, Rabbit Island. According to the website the large population of feral rabbits there chase tourists for food, so watch out. If you read to the bottom of the website you'll also find out that Rabbit Island was the site of the Imperial Army's poison gas factory in World War II and was so secret it didn't show up on any maps. Estimates range upwards of 80,000 deaths came out of this island. And they used to test poison gas on - wait for it - bunny rabbits. So I can't wait. Let's go!
