The Speares

Living the life in Muskoka

Arrowhead
May 14th-19th

The first trip of the year we like to go to Arrowhead as it's so close. We stayed in site #249, which is radio-free and fairly quiet. The chickadees and bluejays (Canada Jays now I believe) were really aggressive. Have to start bringing bird food along with chipmunk food.

The whole stay was rain free and we did the trip without a tarp, which is a bit of a risk but saves tons of work. It was a little cold that week, but we had a hydro site and were snug all night in the heated trailer.]

The signage is getting clearer, but in any event you have to take the side-trail to the lookout past the quartz rock in order to proceed. The old trail along the waterfront becomes more and more impassable until you turn back.

The Track and Tower trail in the big park is another favourite so we had lunch at the lookout.

Nice trip.
